Find your group on this page, press the WhatsApp button, and send the message it fills in for you. A moderator who actually lives on the island reads it and gets you into the right chat - same day more often than not, 48 hours at the outside. Free, no app, no sign-up form.

It's free, full stop. Joining any Madeira People Club group won't cost you anything. We don't sell your number, we don't let the chat fill with spam, and we don't run ads in the groups.

Can I join more than one group?

Accepted Answer

Two to four groups is the norm, not the exception. Someone who works remotely, surfs before breakfast, and chases sunsets on weekends might be in Digital Nomads, Surf, and Wellness together - join as many as apply.

What's the group size? Won't it be spammy?

There's a hard ceiling around 250 members per group, watched over by real moderators. Promotional posts, crypto talk, and off-topic links come down fast. The goal is a chat worth reading, not one you mute after a week.

I'm only in Madeira for 5 days. Worth joining?

Yes - Tourists - 10 Days exists exactly for that window. You'll get pulled into a Tuesday dinner, matched with a carpool for the group day trip to Porto Santo or Curral das Freiras, and pointed toward spots the cruise-ship crowd never finds.

Locals and visitors alike run daily life through WhatsApp here, from scooter rentals to the pharmacy queue, so it's genuinely the easiest way in. If that's not possible for you, send a note through the contact page instead.

Are these groups safe? Vetted?

Getting in starts with a short intro - photo, first name, home country, which group - reviewed before the invite goes out. Anyone reported for scams or harassment is gone, no second warning. It runs on the same trust a small island runs on generally.

Madeira People Club is kept alive by long-term residents and travellers who don't think anyone should be on their own here. One informal WhatsApp group in 2021 turned into ten we now moderate. It's a passion project, not a business.
